CURRICULUM VITAE

Born in Vienna (Austria) Ursula Horner started her artistic education at the Performing Center Austria as a musical performer. After participating in the first stage production she followed a call of the Austrian national television ORF where she became a moderator of the children’s emission “Am, Dam, Des” which brought her three years of new challenges and experiences.

Returning to the old wish of performing on stage she decided to upgrade her vocal abilities and to study voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Several years of singing allowed her to work side by side with famous singers, stage directors and conductors in places like the Vienna State Opera, the Vienna Musikverein or the Salzburg Festival.

The urge for more individual creativity and independence made Horner change her career. Since 1998 she works as a stage director for musical theater (opera, operetta, musical). Her love for funny and fantastic stories (Tales of Hoffmann, L’Italiana in Algeri, Il Barbiere di Siviglia,…) made her a specialist in that genre. She also works as a writer of librettos, translator for drama and musical theater productions and as vocal coach.

A significant part during all those years became the project “Kling Klang”, a production initially created for the Vienna Musikverein. It is still in the program since 2004 and meanwhile spread over Austria, Germany and the Balkans.  The interactive and humoristic character of this educational project helped to excite thousands of children for the world of music.
